Dr John Gliatis graduated from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1980-1986). He started his training as a resident in General Surgery for one year in 401 Military Hospital of Athens and he continued his training in Orthopaedics in KAT Hospital in Athens, from where he finished his Orthopaedic training in 1993. Immediately afterwards, he continued his postgraduate training abroad working in Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC) in UK.

On returning back to Greece, he was appointed as a consultant at «Thriasio» Hospital for 2 years (1999-2001), and after that, he was appointed as a consultant at University Hospital of Patras. In 2005, while he was already appointed as consultant at University Hospital of Patras he took another fellowship for six months “Shoulder fellowship”, specializing in shoulder arthroscopy and replacements at Liverpool University Hospital. Also, in 2005 he successfully presented his thesis, titled “Retrogade nailing in supracondylar fractures of the femur”, which was awarded with distinction.
In 2010 he was ellected as Assistant Professor in Orthopaedics and since 2018 he is an Associate Professor in Orthopaedics in Patras University.

He is one of the cofounders of Hellenic Arthroscopic Society and he was been an active administration board for several years. He was president of the Hellenic Arthroscopic Society between 2014-2016, organising the national meeting in 2015.
Professor Gliatis has 45 publications (pubmed), and 11 additional ones (google scholar). He has presented a large number of free papers in international congresses and more than 40 free papers presentaions in national meetings. He has been invited as a lecturer in more than 90 meetings-congresses. He is reviewer in 2 international peer-reviewed journals and he has written chapters in 7 scientific books.
