Dimitrios Metaxiotis was born in Katerini, Greece.
He graduated the medical school of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and was trained in Orthopaedics in Ippokration General Hospital of Thessaloniki. After finishing his residency in 1997, worked in the Gait Analysis Laboratory of the Orthopaedic clinic of the University of Heidelberg. During his stay till 2002 in Heidelberg, he had the opportunity to be involved in several research projects and clinical work concerning gait problems in patients with cerebral palsy. He is currently working as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in Papageorgiou Hospital in Thessaloniki. His special interests are paediatric orthopaedics and foot surgery.
